Ingraham Park is a popular destination for visitors to the city. The park contains a central fountain, as well as commemorative statues of prominent civil rights figures. The Park also features three installations by artist James Drake. The pieces depict the horror and grief of the confrontations during the civil rights movement in 1963. Other notable statues include the three ministers kneeling in prayer. The other two memorials are of unknown names. Interesting read.
The park is also the site of local cultural events and family festivals. If you're interested in learning more about the turbulent history of Birmingham, you can also listen to audio-tour guides provided by the Civil Rights Institute. The guides are narrated by figures who were directly involved in the events. If you prefer a more personalized tour, you can also schedule a tour with Urban Impact, Inc.
